We could easily do without our kitchen range, but life without our VITA-MIXER is not imaginable. A few days ago we accidentally left ours overnight at a friends house following a pot-luck dinner party. It was missed constantly until we got it back the next evening.
Why is a Vita-Mix so essential here? It is because we love to eat, and we love to eat healthy, delicious, nutrient-rich food. For example:
1. I use it first thing in the morning to mix a warm cacao beverage. It easily liquefies raw cacao nibs and raw sugar, and will heat the beverage to any desired temperature (although we recommend against overheating).
2. We use it to make fresh green drinks. Unlike a regular blender, the Vita-Mix totally breaks the greens down and effectively extracts the chlorophyll, vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals.
3. Anni (wife/partner/friend/chief cook and bottle washer) also makes the most delicious, nutritious raw dips, sauces, soups, (cold, warm or hot right from the Vita-Mix) dressings, chips, cookies, pies, cakes, etc. that you can imagine.
Actually, you cannot imagine — you have to taste them to know how delicious properly prepared raw foods can be. Then you won’t be imagining, you will be fondly remembering. Raw fresh fruits and vegetables that are processed by a Vita-Mix can compliment ANY food, and can add back nutrients and enzymes that were destroyed by heat when they are served as complements to cooked foods.
One amazing super-food that can only be properly prepared in a Vita-Mix is what I call a “CACAo MACA MILK-less SHAKE.” The recipe varies a bit each day, but is basically 1/2 to 1 cup of dried fruit (raisins and/or dates and/or prunes and/or figs) liquefied with twice as much cold water. Then add 4 to 6 oz. of the greenest greens (spinach, kale, parsley, turnip, collard, beet, or swiss chard) that you have and liquify. Add 2 heaping tablespoons of RAW cacao powder*, 1 heaping tablespoon of powdered maca root, 2 bananas (I freeze them first to make the shake thicker) and 2 cups of ice cubes and blend to a thick chocolate shake.
If you are worried about the chocolate (cacao), DON’T BE! Raw cacao is one of the most nutritious, wholesome and complete natural foods on Earth. We don’t know of anything bad about it. It is only when it is cooked, otherwise processed, and mixed with milk and other icky things that it becomes a problem.
Speaking of problems, not having a Vita-Mix is a big one if you are wanting to be healthy! “Perfect Health: Naturally” has arranged to provide you with a FREE SHIPPING COUPON and the best price available for the latest model Vita-Mixers directly from the Vita-Mix company. Just use the link:
http://www.ph-n.com/tools/vitamix.htm to go to the coupon page with instructions on how to redeem it.
By the way, if the price seems high to you, consider that we have had ours for over 10 years, and have used it several times each day in ways that would have tortured and killed any regular blender. When amortized over that life, plus how ever many years it has left in it, the price becomes much lower than any Wal-mart-sold, made-in-China cheapie which wouldn’t be able to do the job anyway.
Viva Vita-mix!
*(If you use cacao nibs instead of the powder, blend it in the very beginning with the dried fruit.)
