The famous line from “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner,” although descriptive of the condition of a sailor trapped by the sea, was also quite prophetic of the current environment that nearly everyone on Earth does their best to live with. Abundant sources of clean, healthy water has become only part of our history. Advanced technology is now required to remove the toxins and diseases that are abundant in more than 99% of the water on Earth, including that which comes from our municipal sources and into our taps.
I am, by default, an expert on water filtration and treatment. Many years ago I was introduced to the problems and some solutions while I was a consultant to a Bennetts Laboratories in Tacoma, Washington. The owner and chief chemist, Eugene Lough, was an expert in water testing and conditioning. He incorporated me into projects to solve serious water problems, especially on the islands of Puget Sound.
Subsequently, based on what I learned from Mr. Lough, I marketed and installed filtration systems for three different manufacturers all around the greater Seattle/Tacoma area, encountering just about every type of contamination.
